Nine Months

July 22nd, Peyton turned 9 months old. Since our last entry she has learned to stand on her own, walk behind her push piano & gotten another ear infection. Since this is the 4th one since March, Peyton will be going to see an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) specialist August 24th to make sure we don't need tubes. At her 9 month checkup she weighed in at 18.4 pounds and 29 inches long. Her percentiles are exactly the same as when she was 6 months (95% for height and 50% for weight). Dr. Patel said she is likely going to be tall and skinny and mommy is sure hoping so for Peyton's sake. The nurse calls Peyton a "string-bean" when she weighs her since she is lighter than most of the babies they see.

Peyton is getting so active that she has had a couple of "accidents" at daycare. She was playing "take the toy away from your boyfriend" and pulled so hard she whacked herself in the face and got a little boo boo. Yesterday she slipped and hit her chin & forehead on the shelves. Peyton also appears to be pretty tough as she was seen tackling one of the older kids (1 1/2 years) to get the toy they had taken from her. Norma, her caregiver, had to laugh when she saw this happen

Peyton has been to Peddler's Village in PA & met one of mommy's former coworkers, Lynne. Last weekend she went down to the Jersey shore. She was the hit of the gathering & had several women at her beck-n-call. She also had a great time playing with her new friend Lucas who is only a few weeks younger than she is.

Summer Fun at Daycare

Peyton gets to do "Water Play" at daycare twice a week during the summer months. Miss Norma, her teacher, says Peyton LOVES it but Norma stays busy trying to keep Peyton in the pool and the rubber chips that Peyton likes to pick up, out of the pool. The dark haired boy is Ry Ry, her boyfriend. The other 2 kids, Darcy and Jack are older and acutally aren't in Peyton's class. They visit Infant A periodically since there are currently only Peyton and Ryleigh in the class.

July 1-20th, 2009

Peyton made her first trip back to Oklahoma since she was less than 2 months old. It was a fun filled time (all except the ear infection and 102 degree temperature that she developed July 4th). Even though she was worn out and not sleeping well during vacation, 2 days after returning to her comfy crib, she was back to sleeping through the night.

Peyton is happily eating with her fingers and loves many new foods: sweet peas, mandarin oranges, mashed sweet potatoes, bisquick biscuits, pasta and meat. She is walking behind her rolling piano and loves it, even though it wears her out! We are in the process of cutting another tooth, which will make 5 total.

She and mommy will be heading to Peddler's Village in PA this weekend to see an old friend of mommy's that she worked with at DJO Orthopedics. This will be a great new experience for Peyton and the beginning of her 9th month of life.

June 12th Peyton went with mommy to pick up cousin Britni from the airport. Britni graduated high school and was coming to visit for a long weekend. Peyton quickly decided Britni was her new best friend. She even waved at her every morning as Britni would wake up and come down the hallway to the living room. The 3 of us went to NYC and toured the city on a double-decker bus. Despite Peyton cutting 3 teeth simultaneously (now has a total of 4 teeth), she was a trooper. The next day the whole family loaded up and walked around Princeton. The visit wasn't long enough, but I am sure Peyton will be excited to see Britni again July 4th.

Peyton is never stationary these days. She still continues to try and stand on her own. She can manage for about 3-4 seconds and then down she goes. Her new favorite places to play are mommy & daddy's bed (she doesn't sleep with us, but loves to roll around while we get changed), the bathroom sink while mommy gets ready in the morning, the enterntainment center and standing at the dishwasher while we unload it. This morning she figured out how to turn on the water at the sink faucet so not sure how long she will be able to sit there in the mornings?

Peyton had a grape this morning (minus the skin of course) and loved it. We are going to try the Gerber meals that have meat in them along with veggies because Peyton is bored with her pure veggies or fruit. Seems the girl is ready for more flavor. She isn't quit ready to swallow solid solids, but something tells us it won't be long now....

Next week it is off to OKLAHOMA!

All In A Day's Play

METS GAME

May 30th we went as a family to the new Mets Citi Field for a game. The day was beautiful and our seats were fabulous thanks to McK's friend. Less than 5 minutes after sitting down, Peyton found herself on the Jumbotron for several minutes. For the rest of the day as we walked around the stadium and even left the game, everyone recognized her and referred to her as the "Mets Baby." The girl seriously had so much attention I felt like the Papparazzi was following us! Despite being a busy and long day Peyton was excellent. Everyone around us kept commenting about how good she was the entire time.

She is really imitating the sounds she hears now. If you repeat a word several times to her, she begins to try and say it back to you. This keeps mommy and Peyton entertained for several minutes at a time these days. One of her favorite hobbies is playing peek-a-boo with daddy. She knows when she can't see him, he is still around and begins to look for him. Likewise, anytime we walk out of the room, she is hot on our trail.......

Friday, cousin Britni will be flying in for a long weekend to visit. The three of us will be headed into NYC. It will be Peyton's first trip to Manhattan so it should be fun to see how she reacts. She is such a social butterfly, something tells me she will be in hog-heaven. Last Saturday we went to a birthday party at Point Pleasant, down the shore. By the end of the day she had charmed every one in the room. They were lining up to say goodbye to her as we got ready to leave. The girl already knows how to work a room :)
