Peek-A-Boo

While Nana was visiting, she & Peyton played a lot of Peek-A-Boo. Peyton began to initiate the game, with her eyes only though :D

Favorite Birthday Card

I received my favorite birthday card from Aunt Rita. I loved it so much I played with it constantly and wore it out in 3 days!

As our family gears up for Peyton's first birthday and visits from both our parents in October, we continue to be amazed with little Pey. She is practically running now and never slows down. She loves to carry everything through the house and one of her favorite spots is her clothes hamper. Every week as she is helping me unload the dirty clothes into the washing machine (her weekly chore - ha ha), we always find something interesting in the hamper bag (her purse, a ball, etc...). She has begun to venture off into other rooms by herself but quickly returns to be with mom or dad.

This week she discovered her belly button (and ours) and is fascinated by it. She also points to her nose, eye and mouth. She can't say the words, but loves to point and for me to say the name. She also signs (and uses in correct context) the word more and loves to repeat sounds (song parts) that we make. She is quite the singer these days.....let's just hope she gets a better voice than her parents! She also dances anytime we sing or she hears music. Peyton also points to herself and says "Pey Pey" like she is called at school. We love it!

Peyton has become a picky eater but favors healthy fruits & veggies so we aren't complaining. She has tried queso and veggie lasagna and loved both. We also tried giving her cow's milk but she was not interested or impressed. As of last weekend we have cut out 2 of her 5 bottles. She is doing great and is increasing the amount of water she drinks from her sippy cup each day. We have given up on juice because she is only interested in water (and of course mommy's capuccinno still).

This Friday she will get to pick a pumpkin at school and then mommy & daddy will be taking her to a pumpkin patch this weekend for more fun and festivities.

Rough & Tumble

Last Wednesday we received a phone call from Peyton's daycare that she had been bitten by a boy at school. Sure enough it was a doozy, including 4 teeth imprints that lasted a couple of days and a bruise that lasted almost a week. Later that evening while we were playing outside in the yard, Peyton further injured herself in the landscaping rocks (hence the black eye). The good news is it hasn't slowed her down a bit!

October Already???

It is hard to believe Peyton will be a year old in less than a month! She has been doing very well since getting her tubes and this is the longest we have gone without an ear infection in over six months (knock on wood). Peyton is now trying to climb....last night she attempted to hike her leg high enough to get into the bathtub herself! She has also learned to spit (mommy isn't too happy about this one). She is walking like a champ and only crawls when she knows she has a long way to go. We discovered she likes steak and buffalo chicken pizza. In a few weeks we will see what she thinks about milk.....
